Contraindications for Medical Injectables

A thorough medical history and consultation are required before any treatment. Always disclose all medications, allergies and recent procedures to ensure safety.

Botox and Dermal fillers are generally safe when administered by a qualified professional, but they are not suitable for everyone. Below are common contraindications to consider before treatment.

Absolute Contraindications for Botox (Botulinum Toxin):

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

  • Allergy to botulinum toxin or any components of the product

  • Those in poor general health

  • Allergy to filler ingredients 

  • Those with very thick or sensitive skin

  • Those with muscle weakness in the proposed injection site

  • Neuromuscular disorders (e.g Myasthenia Gravis, Lambert-Eaton Syndrome)

  • Active skin infection at or near the injection site

Relative Contraindications(Use with caution):

  • Use of blood thinners

  • History of keloid scarring

  • Uncontrolled chronic illness (e.g poorly managed diabetes)

  • Recent facial surgery or cosmetic treatments

  • Psychological conditions affecting body image expectations

What to Expert After Treatment

  • Stay upright for at least 4hours after treatment to prevent 

  • Cleanse your face gently in the evening after treatment, without rubbing the treatment area.

  • Apply a cold compress if you experience mild swelling or bruising (avoid direct ice on the skin).

  • Stay hydrated and maintain healthy skincare routine.

The results can be seen within a week.

Maximum effect may not be seen until 4weeks after treatment.

The treatment can be effective for up to 4months after injection.

Allow at least 3months between treatments.

A follow-up appointment may be scheduled to assess your results and make necessary adjustments.

Contact your healthcare practitioner if you experience any unusual symptoms or signs of an allergic reaction.
