How to prepare for a smooth, stress-free experience
So, you’ve booked your Botox appointment—amazing! Whether it’s your first time or just part of your regular routine, preparing properly can help you get the best results and avoid unwanted side effects.
Here are a few simple but helpful steps to take before your Botox treatment:
✅ 1.Avoid Blood Thinners (If Possible)
To reduce the risk of bruising, try to avoid the following for at least 3–5 days before your appointment:
Aspirin, ibuprofen (e.g., Nurofen, Advil), naproxen
Fish oil or omega-3 supplements
Vitamin E
Alcohol
Herbal supplements like ginkgo, garlic, or St. John’s Wort
Always check with your GP before stopping any prescribed medication.
💦 2.Stay Hydrated
Healthy, hydrated skin is better prepared for treatment and heals faster. Aim to drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your appointment.
🚫 3.Skip Alcohol for 24–48 Hours
Alcohol thins the blood, which can increase the chance of bruising. It’s best to avoid it the day before and after your treatment.
😴 4.Get a Good Night’s Sleep
Your skin and body heal and repair while you sleep. Being well-rested helps you feel calm and ensures your body is in its best condition on the day of treatment.
🧴 5.Arrive with a Clean Face
Avoid makeup, heavy creams, or fake tan on the day of your appointment. Clean, makeup-free skin is ideal for treatment and reduces the risk of irritation or infection.
🗓️ 6.Time It Right
If you have a special event, wedding, or trip coming up, make sure you schedule Botox at least 2 weeks beforehand. It can take up to 14 days for full results to show, and any mild bruising or swelling should resolve by then.
Let your practitioner know if:
You’re pregnant or breastfeeding (Botox isn’t recommended)
You have any allergies or medical conditions
You’ve had Botox or filler treatments elsewhere
You’re taking any medications or supplements
The more we know, the better we can tailor your treatment safely.
